Forest Ecology and Tree Identification with a DCR Forester

Join the Bidwell House Museum for our 2nd Housatonic Heritage Walk of 2023, Forest Ecology and Tree Identification with a DCR Forester, on September 9 at 10 am. During this walk visitors will explore the woodland trails of the Bidwell House Museum with Tom Ryan, DCR state forester. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and will learn about tree and plant identification, carbon sequestration, effect of climate on the forest, and wildlife habitat adaptive forestry.

Please dress for the weather, wear hiking boots & bring water and a snack. This walk will around 2 hours. Be aware that the terrain is steep and rocky in a few places. The walk will happen in light rain but will not go if heavy showers or thunderstorms are forecast.
