Learn how to identify trees on this Housatonic Heritage Walk

Each year, the Bidwell House Museum is excited to participate in the Housatonic Heritage Walk series that takes place throughout the Berkshires and northern Connecticut.

On September 21 we will host our second walk in the 2024 series with forester Tom Ryan, from the Mass. Dept. of Conservation and Recreation. During this walk you will explore the woodland trails of the Museum with Tom. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and will learn about tree and shrub identification and ecological forestry concepts including: carbon sequestration, climate and wildlife habitat adaptive forestry.

Please dress for the weather, wear hiking boots & bring water and a snack. This hike will go 1-2 miles and last approximately 2 hours. The walk will happen in light rain, but will not go if heavy showers or thunderstorms are forecast.

This walk is free and is being offered as part of the Housatonic Heritage Walk series. The walk is limited to 20 people and attendees are asked to pre-register on the Museum website,

Registration for this hike does not include a tour of the Bidwell House Museum interior. If you would like to book a tour after the hike, you can contact the Museum at 413-528-6888 or bidwellhm2@gmail.com.
