The Bidwell House Museum invites you to spend a fall afternoon on the Museum grounds enjoying makers, music and the company of “Martha Washington”!
On Saturday, October 14 from 1-4 pm stop by the Bidwell House to see historic crafts, enjoy some cider and donuts and experience history through song and performance. Activities to enjoy that day include:
-Historian Dennis Picard demonstrating the historic craft of broom making, which he has also done at Historic Deerfield and the Shirley Shaker Community
-Blacksmith Chris Templin explaining and demonstrating his craft
-Artisans Lynne and Harold White will demonstrate bobbin lacemaking and redware painting
-Singer Diane Taraz who, beginning at 1:30 pm, will perform her show “Come to the Fair” using historic instruments and dressed in period clothing.
-Reenactor Sandy Spector , who will present her interpretation of Martha Washington, as she enjoys the gardens and talks with visitors about Martha’s life and times
In addition to all of this, there will also be free cider, cider donuts (while supplies last!) and beautiful grounds to wander.
This is a free event for the community, but donations are greatly appreciated so that we can continue to present these wonderful historic programs.
We do ask attendees to pre-register so we know the quantity of cider and donuts to buy!
