Introduction to Shinrin-Yoku

June 19, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

An introduction to Shinrin-Yoku or “Forest Bathing”

Shinrin-yoku, also known as “forest bathing,” is a meditative practice that can deepen one’s connection with nature. Join certified field naturalist and meditation practitioner, Thomas Lewis, for a quiet, sedate, and mindful nature walk on the Bidwell House grounds, and up to two sit-down meditation sessions for an experience that will last up to 90 minutes.

What you will need to bring: adequate clothing and footwear for temperature, weather, and New England trail conditions; the ability to walk up to a mile; the ability to lower oneself to a seated position on the ground, and to get up, without assistance; an open mind ready to calmly absorb our environment.

What will be provided: a “camp chair” seating pad to protect you from any dampness from the soil/groundcover.

For this to be a sedate and mindful experience, we are limiting it to up to 6 individuals over 18 years of age. Pre-registration is required to attend.

This walk is free will take place in all weather conditions, unless thunder/lighting are predicted.

If you are interested but cannot attend on Sunday 6/19, we are also hosting a walk on Sunday 6/12.
