A Walk Through History At The Bidwell House Museum

Each year, the Bidwell House Museum is excited to participate in the Housatonic Heritage Walk series that takes place throughout the Berkshires and northern Connecticut.

For our final walk, Rob Hoogs will lead visitors around the 190-acre Bidwell House Museum property, highlighting the many eras of history, including Native Americans, Colonial Settlement, Revolutionary era, changes during the 1800s, charcoaling, farming, and 20th century getaway. We will then walk 2 miles of old roads and trails, past the site of the first Meeting House, along amazing stone walls, an intriguing stone cairn, barn foundations, the Old Boston-Albany Post Road, several cellar holes, charcoal hearths, and beautiful woodlands.

Please dress for the weather, wear good footwear and bring water (and a snack if you like). It is a good idea to wear bug repellant and bring hiking poles if you use them. This hike will go 2 miles and last approximately 2 hours. Light rain will not cause a cancellation, but the walk will not go if heavy showers or thunderstorms are forecast.

This walk is free and is being offered as part of the Housatonic Heritage Walk series. The walk is limited to 20 people and attendees are asked to pre-register below.
