2022 Annual Appeal
Thanks to the support of friends like you, the Bidwell House Museum has been able to continue our mission of providing a personal encounter with history. Because of that support, whether through membership, donations or simply spreading the word about the Museum, we’ve been able to accomplish so much. Here are just a few highlights of what your support has meant to us in 2022:
–The Bidwell Country Fair. We were able to bring this back for the first time since 2019. It was so wonderful to connect with the community!
–High school and college interns. Our four interns immersed themselves in local history, worked in the gardens, and guided eager visitors through the house.
-The Pollinator Garden. We were able to rejuvenate it in order to make it a better space for local pollinators in Monterey.
-Celebration of the life of Elizabeth Freeman. This was an amazing one-woman performance by Tammy Denease.
Year-round, the Museum also invites the community to explore our 194 acres of verdant forests, gardens, and six miles of hiking trails. You can walk in the steps of the Mohicans, have a picnic, watch birds, or view historic stone walls. Importantly, at the end of 2021 the Museum put 180 acres into a Conservation Restriction. This guarantees that the land will remain accessible to the community in perpetuity.
The Bidwell House Museum is a special place, where history, nature, and storytelling come together to transport visitors to a different time. Your contribution to our Annual Appeal will help us build on the strong foundation of stewardship you have provided.
Please make your gift today.
There is much to look forward to in the upcoming year: our programs, exhibits, and special events await you. Plan now for your next visit – you are always welcome at the Bidwell House Museum!
Sincerely,
Heather Kowalski, Diane M. Austin,
