This tan, whole
cloth wool quilt estimated to have been made in the first half of the 19th
century, is 93" x 93 1/2" with a medium wool batting, pale yellowing
backing made from three pieces of plain woven wool and a knife edge
finish. |
Hand quilted, at about 6
stitches to the inch, are three concentric feathered circles and an
undulating feathered border. In fair condition there is some fading,
some holes and some dark brown splattered stains on the back, showing it
was well-used. |
